Moto X 2014 2 months in:
So I have had my Moto X 2014 for about 2 months now. What can I say about this phone that hasn’t been said by other reviewers? Probably nothing except my own experience.
And so far I love this phone! it ROCKS!
I am on Verizon and my Moto X was quickly updated to Android 5.0. My Moto X is my daily companion I use it for streaming music 8 to 10 hours a day, queuing up Youtube videos, remotely accessing my Raspberry Pi, photographing the kids, and talking to my wife. I also play a little Goat Simulator and Ingress. My data usage is approximately 5 gigs per month.
My experience with the battery has been awesome I get between 20 and 26 hours of battery life before I decide to charge it. Some complain that the battery life isn’t long enough, for me this is plenty long. My previous phone gave me 4 hours of battery life before needing to be charged.
While the camera in my opinion is not near DSLR quality it is very sufficient to take quick pictures of the family, a sunrize or ideas for later. For me the camera is more than adequate.
Awesome! that’s all I need to say about it. I love the Amoled screen. there is a great contrast, some say it’s saturated I personally like the looks of it.
My favorite feature is the active display. It makes the phone feel like it’s working more for you than you are for it when you have to guess what the notification is by a flashing light.
Since I have to complain about something the only issue that I see with the VZW Moto X is Advanced calling has not been released. My understanding from my contacts at Moto is that it is waiting for Verizon to release the update.
I would also like to see external expansion storage. 16 gigs is a small amount I would really like to use my micro SD Card.
I believe that the Moto X is an excellent purchase. I highly recommend it if you are off contract and don’t want to go back on contract. Check out my video below.
